Nen's first day in 4th grade
He liked his new teachers, both the Chinese and the English one. I took him to swimming and started reading my book on "homeschooling." It includes testimonies from kids who were homeschooled, what their favorite books and activities were. One kid mentions going to Gettysburg. I remembered watching several documentary films about the Civil War last winter. The best was hearing about the battle of Gettysburg, per Frank Aretas Haskell's recount. When I grow up, I want to write like him, absolutely amazing writing.
In general, I find it hard to learn about war and I thought how great it would be if you could teach Nen about it. You always had the best grades, so I'm sure you'd remember a lot. Continuing with my daydreaming, I fantasized about Nen going to Staples, your high school. I remember you said it was so much harder than what you were used to in Salt Lake, so you had to put in a lot of effort. I read recently that Staples continues being a great school.
Nen is really hungry, so I'll cut here.
Love!
